The Chander Law Firm Presents "Employer Obligations: Immigration Status Compliance and Workforce Enforcement" to RHCA

DALLAS, TEXAS - On August 4, 2010, Vishal Chander, Managing Attorney of The Chander Law Firm, presented the last of a four-part lecture series on Immigration Law to the Dallas Regional Hispanic Contractors Association (RHCA).  The presentation was entitled "Employer Obligations: Immigration Status Compliance and Workforce Enforcement."

During this session, Mr. Chander focused employer obligations to comply with immigration laws in the hiring of employees.  He first discussed to ensure the lawful status of on employment based immigration opetions for professionals.  He first discussed the basic requirements of Section 274A of the Immigration and Nationality Act INA, which prohibits the unlawful employment of certain foreign nationals and imposes employer sanctions.   He then discussed employer verification requirements including Form I-9 compliance and the E-verify program.  He then discussed Immigration & Customs Enforcement worksite actions.  He completed the session with details on employment verification compliance for contractors and E-verify requirements for federal contractors. 

The session was described by attendees as "excellent" and there were several requests to offer the program again.

The mission of the Regional Hispanic Contractors Association is to promote and support the advancement and economic growth of the Hispanic Contractors in Texas. RHCA develops programs and facilitates resources to help Hispanic Contractors reach their potential.
