Vishal Chander Chairs Comprehensive Immigration Reform Panel at 2010 NAPABA National Convention

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - On November 19, 2010, Vishal Chander, Managing Partner of The Chander Law Firm, chaired and spoke on the panel "The Politics and Policy of Comprehensive Immigration Reform" at the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) National Convention in Los Angeles, California.  Also speaking on the panel were Professor Hiroshi Motomura of the University of California, Los Angeles, Ms. Connie Choi of the Asian Pacific American Legal Center of Los Angeles, Professor Kathleen Kim of Loyola Law School.

The panel laid out an overview of the current state of immigration law and policy and the prospects for changes in the immigration system in the future.  Panelists first discussed important immigration court decisions handed down in 2010.  The panel then looked at the current federal policy and legislation passed including the Border Security Act of 2010.  The panel then discussed efforts to regulate immigration by the states.  The panel also discussed proposed legislation including Senate Bill 3932 and the Dream Act. 

The panel received high praises for the quality of the speakers and information.  One attendee described the program as one of the best at the NAPABA Convention and the most substantive panel of the convention.
